Originally created to juice fruit and vegetables, this stylish and functional juicer is as perfectly useable today as it was when first made and It would also make a unique decorative ornament.
It has wonderful provenance being marked 光緒甲午年 Guangxu Jiawu Year - 1894. The underside is marked 諸潤樓 - Xurun Lou House. These juicers were found across China and this particular piece is made from jumu (red elm / southern elm / zelkova). The wood suggests it most likely is from Jiangsu province. Jumu is considered a superior wood to yumu, its northern cousin.
